Food Pantry News
Offered up by Pat

This is the time of year when we start getting things together in preparation for the 2005 Postal Workers' Food Drive, a country wide effort by the Letter Carriers of the U.S Postal Service to provide a supply of food to
help pantries serve their clients during the summer months. This effort, in Somersworth, at least, makes it possible for the pantry to conserve some of the money we have to help out during the leaner times. It costs a lot to provide all the items given away at the pantry. The residents of Somersworth have been traditionally very generous. For that we are eternally grateful.
We will be getting boxes moved into the church on Friday, May 13th. At that time we will be setting up the tables, putting up the signs, making sure we have all the food and drink to keep our volunteers happy. On Saturday, we will have a good many 'hurry-up and wait' interludes. We rush like mad for a while when the bags of food come in, then we eat, drink and talk for a while, waiting for the next vehicle. It is a wonderful experience and one we would like any of you who wish to do so to join us. We will meet sometime between 10am and noon, and stay until around 3pm. If anyone wishes to give an hour or so, they are more than welcome to come and take part in this wonderful day.
Hope to see you there.
